The Artist’s Way Morning Pages

I have been writing morning pages again for the past several months. For those of you familiar with Julia Cameron who wrote “The Artist’s Way”, this is a writing method she recommends be done every morning to get in touch with your innermost thoughts and desires and to release any stressful thoughts or negativity before you start your day. You write in a stream of consciousness fashion for three pages just writing whatever thoughts are there without censoring.

My coach has suggested I reframe these pages to be my “consciousness journal”. The early morning writing is helping me bring to the surface my inner thoughts and the voice of my wise inner self, and some new directions for my life and my business.

Here’s what I suggest for anyone wanting to be more in touch with your heart’s greatest desires and the voice of your wise self: Buy a journal. Get up 20 minutes earlier to have quiet time for yourself and invite your wise inner self to speak to you through the writing on the page.

I’d love to know how you do with this exercise!

  1. Really like your focus and thoughts.

I am mulling over compiling some interviews with women in leadership into a book. The working title is “Women in Leadership – Defying Expectations” These would be Canadian women, since I live in Surrey BC.

I’m curious if you have any suggestions as to who you’d like to see included in a book like this. I have my own list of course, but with your extensive experiences with women leaders I’d appreciate your take on it. Who do you think people would like to read about? I am including business, political and community leaders.

    Keep up the great work.
