One thing I have learned over many years in business is that the best results come when I narrow down to focus on my top core talents and simplify my business offerings.
And that’s what I teach all my clients to do too.
My mantra is specialize, simplify and systematize. I call them the 3 Ss of success.
It can be simple!
Doesn’t that sound great?
I know that over many years I overcomplicated things, did way more than I needed to do, and didn’t get the results I wanted because I was way too general and non-specific and I didn’t have any systems in place.
Does that sound familiar?
So, I started to narrow my niche, streamline my business model, and install some systems to make my life easier.
And you know what?
I got better results working fewer hours. I think that’s something we all want, don’t you?
Here are the 3 steps that I have taken and that I help my clients take and that I believe can also improve your results:
Step 1: Specialize
What I want you to do is to get really clear on your greatest passions, strengths, expertise and unique personality and build your business around that. Know what makes you different from your competitors and leverage that. Narrow down your focus.
Offer unique, specialized solutions to your ideal clients. This will give you a very distinctive professional brand and you will become known as a specialist, rather than a “me too” generalist.
That’s how you can stand out, be easily referable, and charge higher fees.
Choose one market, focus on it, and grow it as big as you can!
Step 2: Simplify
My motto is simplicity plus prosperity – I want them both.
It is possible to simplify and streamline your business so you can work fewer hours, have more freedom, and make more money.
I see so many women who are overwhelmed with all the actions they are taking to grow their business – it just breaks my heart!
They are making it much more complicated than it needs to be because they aren’t following a simple model.
Create a signature core offer that you want to become known for. A coaching package or program that capitalizes on your strengths and expertise, and that you know from some client research that people will want to buy.
And just sell that for now until you fill up your available spots every month.
Devote most of your time to attracting new business and delivering your specialized services. That’s it.
Keep it really simple. Simplify all your routines and your offers. That’s how to be most effective.
Step 3: Systematize
Creating systems and automating will help you simplify and streamline your business so you can focus on your core strength or “zone of genius”.
This is how you get to work fewer hours, impact people at a deeper level, and make more money.
And isn’t that what we all want?
You can develop simple systems for everything in your business, such as email communication, client attraction, client support, publishing ezines and blog posts, posting to social media sites, managing your schedule, and processing payments to name a few. Lead generation, follow-up, content delivery, registration and payment can be entirely automated, freeing you up to do more high level work.
Take action on any one of these ideas to specialize, simplify and systematize and I can almost guarantee that your income and feeling of fulfillment in your business will increase dramatically!

I so agree with the 3 S’s. It has taken me a while to really simplify my message but now that I have a simple clear message it resonates with everything I do.
Simplicity is the answer Patricia! And as you say – a simple, clear message s so important.
Nice article. Many thanks. 🙂
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. We get so caught up in the promises and steps and following this guru and that one that we trade the passion for a treadmill. Simplicity and focus changed everything for me. Thanks Jan for the reminder!
