Do you have as many clients as you’d like? Can you imagine having more coaching clients than you can handle? A wait list of clients eager to start with you?
Coaching is about making a difference and transforming lives.
But if not enough people know about you, you won’t be helping as many people as you could. And that’s the sad situation for too many coaches.
When I started out I had trouble finding clients. And I know it can be hard getting out there – especially if you’re not totally confident in how you can help people.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
The fact is the more effectively you get visible, share your message and your stories, the better you’ll be able to attract clients, support their transformation and get busy changing the world.
I’m often asked what it takes to build a thriving full coaching practice. Here 4 of the main things I think you need to easily sign up more clients:
1) Ideal Client Clarity
It takes an in-depth understanding of your perfect clients, what they really want, what they are challenged or frustrated by that you know you can help them with.
It takes an ability to speak to them from the heart and a desire to help them improve their lives. Plus, an awesome offer that they recognize will help them that you have created because you know them so well that you know exactly what they want and will respond to.
2) Mindset Work
It takes the kind of confidence that comes from knowing that you have a solid, transformational coaching program that many people want and are looking for. This kind of confidence comes from clarity on your purpose and a ton of mindset work to move through limiting beliefs and thoughts that are holding you back.
You must refuse to spend time in doubt and worry and giving in to your fears in order to attract the clients who are already searching for you. And all you have to do is engage them in conversation, and then they ask YOU how they can work with you.
3) High Visibility
It takes continued visibility so that your ideal clients can’t miss you! Find your voice, share your personal stories and inspire people. Engage with your audience to build trust. Share some of your best tips so they get to know you and how you can help them, so that by the time they book a discovery call with you, they are very excited to get started working with you.
There are many channels where you can be visible and connect with your ideal audience, but choose wisely. Pick your favorite 1 to 3 channels, and really work those, rather than trying to spread yourself too thin over too many channels.
4) Heartfelt Conversations
I tell my coaching clients they can use their coaching skills when engaging in sales and enrollment conversations. They are often surprised by this. And yet, your coaching skills are powerful communication skills as well. Use these skills to grow and nurture your community, so that you are constantly serving and attracting.
Master the art of authentic discovery conversations guiding people to step into their power and say yes to their greatest desires and invest in themselves through you, without letting them give in to their fears. (You can only do this when you have worked through your own fears in step 2!)
And, really, you don’t need to do ANYTHING else to start booking more clients. Everything else is just busy work that can keep you stuck and small.
Wishing you much success in attracting more clients!

As a sales coach for service based businesses, I loved your #4 Heartfelt Conversations.
I say it’s just a conversation with your BBF – your newest best business friend. And what is scary about talking with a friend!?!
Coaching and selling are so closely linked as selling is all about listening and asking great questions. It is NOT about talking and isn’t that what coaching is all about too?
So true Patti that coaching and selling use many of the same skills. I love your phrase BBF!
